Hailed as the best band to come out of Ireland since U2, The Script proved it with a self-titled debut that rocketed to the top of the British charts.
This threesome has thrilled fans with their new brand of Celtic soul, which fuses clever R&B production with anthemic rock dynamics. Some have called them a blend of U2 and Timbaland; others have said that they sound like Van Morrison remixed by Teddy Riley. However they’re described, there’s one thing all the critics agree on: these boys are damn good.
Every now and then, a ‘people’s band’ comes along – and The Script are definitely in that league. The key to their polished sound is wonderful musicianship, intelligent lyrics and just the right amount of attitude. Their first single, We Cry, became a smash hit in the UK. Amazingly, their follow-up, The Man Who Can’t Be Moved, did even better. And another of their songs, The End Where I Begin, was chosen for the soundtrack of the massive FIFA 09 video game. This isn’t a group going places – they’re already there.
