Biography:
“My philosophy to food and healthy eating has always been about enjoying everything in a balanced, and sane way.” So says celebrity chef and cuisine crusader Jamie Oliver, who is one of the most influential television personalities in the world.

James Trevor "Jamie" Oliver was born on the 27th of May, 1975, to two foodie parents. His parents ran a pub, where the young Jamie cut his teeth in the food industry.

In 1998, at the age of 23, Jamie first hit our TV screens with debut program The Naked Chef. Despite the provocative title, the show was really about simple, unfussy recipes.

One of Jamie’s most significant contributions to charity was his establishment of the restaurant, Fifteen. The TV show Jamie’s Kitchen charted Jamie’s journey to Fifteen, where he famously took 15 disadvantaged youth and trained them to become cooks in his restaurant.

Another of Jamie’s most notable achievements was his Feed Me Better campaign, the subject of another TV show titled Jamie’s School Dinners. Disgusted by the junk food served in school canteens, Jamie fought for healthy, tasty and inexpensive food for children and showed canteen ladies how it could be done. As a result of this campaign, the British Government promised to allocate £280m on quality school meals.

In 2003, Jamie was awarded an MBE. Some of his most popular cookbooks include Jamie Does … and Jamie’s 30-Minute Meals.

Despite what people have been saying, it really is a great concept. I love sharing meals with my family and friends, and now Jamie has done something to make it a more everyday thing beside the odd Chinese meal. It is quite ironic that Jamie features lemons so often in his meals as there seems to be quite a few "lemon suckers" out there that just complain about everything and are scared to try something new. This is my first Jamie book, and I see it as being very inspirational with great photography. No, it is not a traditional cook book. If you don't like that, then buy the best of Margaret Fulton and continue living in your non negotiable bubble. x
