Author Name:

One of the best thriller writers in the world, Jeffery Deaver, presents a new chapter in the James Bond story.
Carte Blanche has been commissioned by Ian Fleming’s estate. Like Fleming, Deaver takes inspiration from exotic locations around the world so he decided to set this book in Dubai.
As part of Bond’s latest assignment, the secret agent gets up to his usual brand of mischief in Dubai. He spends a number of thrilling hours meeting an old friend and then tracking down a disturbing villain. Deaver said, “Part of the non-stop suspense in the novel is the looming question of what is acceptable in matters of national and international security. Are there lines that even James Bond should not cross?”.

Quote:
"Jeffery Deaver is the master of the triple twist and an expert at delivering the unexpected." – The Canberra Times

Biography:
A former journalist and attorney, Jeffery Deaver is an international number-one bestselling author. His novels have appeared on bestseller lists around the world. The Times newspaper called him "the best psychological thriller writer around."

One of his thrillers about Lincoln Rhyme, The Bone Collector, became a blockbuster film starring Denzel Washington and Angelina Jolie. Two of his other books, A Maiden's Grave and The Devil's Teardrop, were also made into movies.

Jeffery’s books are sold in 150 countries and translated into 25 languages. As well as the Lincoln Rhyme series, which revolves around a quadriplegic homicide detective who is an expert at solving murders, he is famous for his Kathryn Dance books, which centre upon a body language expert.

Some of his bestselling books include: Edge, The Burning Wire, Roadside Crosses, The Bodies Left Behind, The Broken Window and The Sleeping Doll.

On his website, Jeffery says, “I explore the psychology of crime and crime detection in my books: the minds of the criminal and his hunters. I also try very hard to create characters – both heroes and villains – with psychological depth. In other words, the people who populate my books are more than caricatures. We inhabit their minds throughout much of the book.”

Surprise author fact:
At one stage, Jeffery was a folk singer, and he briefly turned his hand at acting – when he appeared as a corrupt reporter on his favourite soap opera, As The World Turns.
