Author Name:
The mystery of nature wars with man's need to know in this timely Dean Koontz thriller that, as the title suggests, will leave you breathless.
The author of blockbusters like Relentless, Koontz sets his saga high in the Rockies, where carpenter Grady Adams has retreated from the world. However, when he discovers a pair of extraordinarily beautiful animals unlike any he's seen before, the world lands on his doorstep. Suddenly stretches of wilderness are off limits as the experts arrive to capture and catalogue the creatures he's befriended. Grady and vet Cammy Rivers are virtual prisoners too, and when they begin to join the dots that link this mystery, they make a stunning decision.
Biography:
Dean Koontz is a prolific American author best known for his suspense thrillers, which frequently incorporate elements of horror, science fiction, mystery and satire. Rolling Stone hailed him as “America’s most popular suspense novelist.”
Published in 38 languages, 12 of Dean’s novels – including The Husband, Odd Hours, Relentless and What The Night Knows (2010), have risen to number one on The New York Times hardback bestseller list.
The New York Times called his writing “psychologically complex, masterly and satisfying.”
Dean’s first job was with the Appalachian Poverty Program, where he was expected to counsel and tutor underprivileged children on a one-to-one basis. His first day on the job, he discovered that the previous occupier of his position had been beaten up by the very kids he had been trying to help and had landed in the hospital for several weeks. This made Dean even more motivated to build a career as a writer. A few years later, his wife, Gerda, made him an offer he couldn’t refuse: “I’ll support you for five years,” she said, “and if you can’t make it as a writer in that time, you’ll never make it.” By the end of those five years, Gerda had quit her job to help manage Dean’s writing career.
Early in his career, Dean wrote under an array of pen names, such as David Axton, Gerda Ann Cerra and Brian Coffey.
Interesting author fact:
Dean is an avid dog lover. Canines (typically an unusually smart Golden or Labrador Retriever) often feature prominently in his books.
