Author Name:
Derek Parker

Andrew Barton Paterson, better known as 'Banjo' Paterson, did more than write Australia's unofficial national anthem, Waltzing Matilda. He was a first-rate war correspondent for the Sydney Morning Herald.
Banjo travelled around the world and had many dangerous adventures. When he returned home, he eventually became a popular broadcaster in the early days of radio. By the time he died, everyone in Australia knew the verses of Waltzing Matilda but scarcely anyone could have told you it had been written by him as he had sold the copyright outright for five pounds!
This book contains some of his best and most famous poems, including Waltzing Matilda, Clancy Of The Overflow and The Man From Snowy River.

Quote:
"There was movement at the station, for the word had passed around / That the colt from Old Regret had got away / And had joined the wild bush horses --- he was worth a thousand pound / So all the cracks had gathered to the fray" - Extract from The Man From Snowy River
