The Tyrrell Collection – negatives from two of Australia's largest photographic studios in the late 1800s and early 1900s – was recently made available to Australian Geographic by the Powerhouse Museum.
The resulting book, A Nation In the Making, provides a portrait of an increasingly diverse and confident Australia: a nation metamorphosing from six separate colonies into one united Commonwealth.
