When you join one of our clubs we request your personal information. For example information, such as, name, address, telephone number, E-mail address, age (in the case of Children's Book Club only), information about your reading preferences, your interests and your use of various products and services and your credit card details (if you choose)*.

When you place an order, we request your product choice, any change of contact details (change of address) and your credit card details (again if you choose)*.

On other occasions you may submit information about other people. For example, in our "Member Get A Member" Program you may submit a friend's name, address, and contact details and reading preference.

From time to time, we may also collect non-personal information from our customers for general research, via surveys, about your lifestyle, interests and hobbies, attitudes and purchasing habits plus your interest in various products and services. This information is only collected on an aggregate basis and is not personally identifiable. This information assists us in providing products & services our members want.

How Do We Use This Information?

In order to provide you with the best service we can, Doubleday will monitor your membership activity and may communicate with you regarding the compliance of your membership rules. Any analysis of this activity is only carried out by authorised Doubleday personnel.

As Doubleday has a wide range of products including books, music, videos, DVDs and more we may categorise your interests, from information you provide, in order to offer you the products you prefer. For example, if you have a preference for fiction books only, we may provide you with a greater choice of this type of book rather than offer you, for example, gardening books. As well we will inform you about the entire Doubleday product ranges available.

Sometimes we may use the information you provide to communicate with you, for example to notify you when you have won one of our competitions or prizes, or about your account status. As well we may call or mail to ask if you would like to rejoin any of the Doubleday clubs.
